Hey people, just got my N800 and loving it so far. Just one problem, when I plug in the charger and leave it for a few hours (ie overnight), the little battery meter still reports that it's charging when I check it in the morning. It seems like the OS never realises that at some point the battery is fully charged. Just concerned that this constant charging could be dangerous and/or shorten the life of the battery.

Thanks,

Jack

(and i'm running os2008 btw)

Yes, I've noticed the same with mine (N800, OS2008). Additionally, the battery indicator on the desktop seems to go down to one bar right away and remain there, thus giving very little information as to actual battery state. It seemed to work differently in OS2007.

yea, i'm also in the same boat, brand spanking new n800, with os2007 it reported full, but with os2008, it always says charging.

I was having the same problem. I believe it was due to the fact that the charger tip was not fully seated in the charging port on the n800

I don't think this is a significant problem. It's true that the extortionate price that Nokia charges for its battery makes anything that might weaken the battery a big deal. I fight that by owning a couple of cheap Hong Kong batteries.
