Do sound notifications work in GAIM? I have version 1.5.0. It is a bit of a PIA to keep constant watch of the screen for incoming IM's.

is it possible for an app to switch app icon on the fly? that would work brilliantly for gaim if it's possible.

I always wanted to get this working and I just now did.

you need the following, it might be available elsewhere, but this is the one I used

http://gnuite.com:8080/nokia770/esou...2.36-4_arm.deb

In gaim under "preferences" and "interface" and "sound" and "sound method" put this:

esdplay %s

On the next tab "sound events" you can test your wavs and pick custom wavs

good luck, finally sound on gaim

I downloaded that, but when I try to install it, it gives me an error that the package is corrupted? I tried downloading it twice.

My N770 fails installing the esound-client. It tells me, the package would be incompatible...

Hey it WORKS! You dont install the esound client, download to root directory of memory card, then issue this as root:

dpkg -X /media/mmc1/esound-clients_0.2.36-4_arm.deb /

This puts everthing in its proper place. (Dont forget the forward slash at the end). Then follow penguinbait's instructions.

Thanks again
