There was also flashlight-extra-gtk, a utility to select between flashlight and camera on cover open. Have you checked that, too?

A preference option to quit application on shutter close would be handy if possible.
What current are you running torch mode at?

How about the program looking for a "power user flag" like a hidden file with a text string that would require users to explicitly do this if they want to get into trouble?
Amazed at the pace of development, Copernicus. Tip of the hat to you!

Honestly, I'm really not comfortable writing software that will physically damage N900s, no matter how much their owners want it.There just aren't enough N900s left in the world!
(But, as I've said, the source code is available; you can modify it yourself if you absolutely need that feature...)
Thanks! With Lanterne and Pierogi, I think I've just about mastered the art of switching LEDs on and off now.

...(strobe) flash brightness level...from 215 mA at 12, to 320 mA at 19.
Sorry, yeah, the "torch" mode is running the flash LEDs at 50 mA, from what I've read on the ADP1653 data sheet. From the V4L2 parameters I'm getting, that seems to be the one and only allowed current level for torch use...

About the brightness i disagree - the regular level looks fine to me.
