My dmesg output has dozens of lines that look
like this:

Code:
[40270.765625] menelaus 1-0072: Setting voltage 'VMMC' to 3000 mV (reg 0x0a, val 0xb8)
I'm worried there is something wrong with my new 4gb
card ... or that it's draining the battery ...

any advice welcome, TIA

Yes, this is harmless 'bug' in kernel. It should be debug output and disabled. This is caused by power management which turns off the card when it is not accessed and then turn it back on. If you are bothered by this (because you regularly want to find something in kernel log :-) you may comment it out or use my custom kernel which has this line disabled.
