Hello everyone. I too just purchased an n800 with the intent of downloading GPE Calendar on it. However, every time I try, it appears in the application manager as an installable application, but when I try to install it, I get the following error message: "Unable to install. Some application packages required for the installation are missing." When I click for details, I get "Applications packages missing: libsoup1.1-8(>=2.2.98)"

Anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

Quick question...what OS do you have...I have 2008 and it works...if you reply as to the OS and it is 2008 I will review what I did, otherwise if it is the 2007 OS and I can not help...

Unfortunately its not working. I follow the link above to the repositories page, click the green arrow next to Maemo Hackers for Chinook, then the link to Grahams Repository (just below it), go to the application manager, find GPE calendar, click to install and..... exactly the same thing happens: libsoup2.2-8 etc is missing. Apparently there is something wrong with the way I click the Maemo Hackers arrow. By the way I dont see libsoup2.2-8 in the application manager, shouldnt I be able to? What else could be wrong?

I had the same issue & I'm running OS 2008 , I got it to install finally.

I installed the GPE suite that was for Chinook & NOT bora & that seems to work fine. I'm not exactly sure what the difference...

The installation that worked for me was from Graham Cobb :

Hope this helps some other noobies out as well.

Thanks all.

Interesting. I dont know what "Chinook" or "Mistral" refer to, but is it possible that I am attempting to download a version of libsoup for one of them and a version of GPE intended for the other?

Every single step by step instructions I follow ends up in a missing library error or a generic installation failed error. It's driving me crazy. I've been trying to do this for 2 hours. It shouldn't be this hard.

EDIT: I'm an idiot. Despite all the 2008 Nokia site stuff that came up on it I've got 2007 OS. I'm a dumb ***. Will see how it goes after the update.

Nope, same libsoup error as I was getting with the (inadverdent) 2007 installs.

OK, things may be starting to make sense. Apparently I have been making more or less the same dumb mistake Greenmonkey was. Previosly, when I went to the Repositories page I failed to notice the little buttons in the upper right that correspond to the OS system. I have been trying to install applications intended for OS08. Now that I know this, I may be able to do it the right way. Only one thing worries me. First, the link to the libsoup thread that Keypox shares with us above is discussing the 08 system. There, someone called lorelie advises the poster to dowload a repository called "Maemo Hackers", but only the one for "Chinook" not "Mistral". On the 07 repositories page, I can find GPE easily enough, and there is also one "Maemo Hackers" repository as well, but it doesnt mention anything about Chinook or Mistral. So I have to assume that distinction isnt important for 07.

Greenmonkey, if I understand correctly you started with 07, upgraded to 08 and still had the same problems. Did you notice the message on the 08 page that warned you against downloading duplicate repositories? Apparently with 08 you have to delete the old repositories you previously downloaded and re-load them again. Anyway, you might try that and see if it works.
