I took mine to best buy and walked around looking at everything from GPS to camera to portable game system cases to see what fit best and I ended up with this:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1195599143699

Seems to offer plenty of protection from the everyday bumps, but i wouldn't trust it if i dropped it from 5' or anything. Also includes a divider inside that serves as memory storage (will hold any size cards) and protects your screen from anything that's in the mesh pocket.

I think the right Otterbox is the 2000 or 2510 (depending on whether or not the 2000 has enough internal foam to protect the NIT).

I'd really like a black 2000 with internal foam to snugly hold my N810 ...

Yeah! I have an OtterBox 3000 and I can certainly vouch for their quality! I got the 3000 which is a bit on the big side for the N810 but I wanted to have some extra room for my changer, spare batteries, and earphones.

They do have a hook on them so you can actually lock them with a lock if you want.

You would REALLY have to be trying to actually break one of the these, they're built quite solidly. I bet I could hit it would a sledge hammer and it probably wouldn't even dent it.

The water-tight, air-tight, is nice too since if you drop it in the sea on your boat trip, it'll just float and you can fetch it.

Also if you don't want the extra space, I hear the 2000 will fit the N810 like a glove. The padding on the inside is not thick like with the Pelican cases, but it's more of a dense foam which is about 4mm thick.

Definitely a sound investment for your N810!

Yeah, I had been thinking about the Pelican 1040 as well (or the 1060, if I wanted more room).

I've been thinking about a 1040 with thick foam inserts, putting it in a Tom Bihn (www.tombihn.com) snake charmer, and attaching one of Tom's shoulder straps to the nylon loops on the end of the snake charmer (so it'd be like a really low profile messenger bag). Then I just have to figure out which of the Pelican or Otterbox cases is right for holding my iGo keyboard, and whether or not to buy a box for holding cables and chargers.

I just with the snake charmer had an option for solid (non-mesh) sides, and an actual handle instead of the little loop on top. And one of the two pockets had smaller pockets for holding pens, cell phone, and maybe my wallet ... plus a key clip.

So, I've got a Pelican 1040 on the way (with foam inserts), and I got a black Maxpedition "Fatboy" gear bag (the picture makes it look a little bigger than it really is, but it's a very good size for carrying an N810+iGo+cellphone+still room for a little bit of stuff ... couple probably even put an EeePC in the back-most pocket. Not big enough for a laptop (a good thing, I didn't want a laptop case), big enough to comfortably carry my N810 gear.

Here's where I got my Pelican 1040.

I got my maxpedition through ebags, but here's the maxpedition fatboy page (I really like their product line; if I ever want a laptop bag, I'll probably get their "last resort tactical attache" bag ... and if I decide I want more space than the fatboy gives me, I might get the manta or colossus bags ... that might let me roll up a rain poncho in one of the compartments, the fatboy is just slightly too small for that ... but I could attach a pouch to its underside for it, if I really want to).

I'm done with spending money on these things! I just use the stock Nokia case, and it seems to work just fine.

I have the 2000 and it fits the N810 but it's loose. A simple foam pad holds it tight and I'll be slicing the foam open to store SD cards in.

I'm using the clear adhesive protector from Bodyguardz.com:

http://www.bodyguardz.com/BodyGuardz...-bn81-1207.htm

This is basically custom cut pieces of clear adhesive that cover the back and sides of the N810, conforming to the shape of buttons and speakers, etc. It's like a second skin for the N810 and doesn't add any noticeable heft or thickness to the device. Note that it's a little tricky to apply, and you may have airbubbles stuck underneath it for a couple days, but it does turn out pretty well if you're patient. Another word of caution - removing the adhesive also removes some of the silkscreened letters as well, such as the "Nokia" on the front face and the letters on the battery cover as well. It's just a thin layer that's being removed.

For add protection, I'm using the Boxwave Designio leather case made specifically for the N810, which can be found here:

http://www.boxwave.com/products/dlca...-case_3045.htm

The leather case is similar to other ones I've seen on Ebay, PDAir, and CarryMobile, flipping horizontally to expose the N810 and with clear plastic covering the keyboard, but the Boxwave design utilizes black stitching for a cleaner (in my opinion) look. Also, the external leather is one piece, meaning the top vertical edge of the unit is completely covered when it's closed as opposed to being partially exposed. You do have to remove the unit for access to the external memory card slot as well as the microUSB port but that's a given in most cases. Another note, when the case is snapped close, the added thickness of all the inner pockets of the front flap tends to bear down pretty hard on the front fascia, so I'd stick a microfiber cloth in between there to protect the N810's case and the screen from getting pockmarked by the stitching.

One last item I'd recommend is the ClearTouch Anti-Glare screen protector from Boxwave.com, available through this link:

http://www.boxwave.com/products/clea...-n810_3045.htm

I've tried the one that comes with the Bodyguardz full body protection kit, the HD screen protectors from Screenguardz.com, and lastly the ClearTouch ones from Boxwave.com. ClearTouch is hands down the best of the three I've tried. It made the screen semi glossy, giving colors a wet, vibrant look, whereas the other screen protectors made the screen kind of dull. No bubbles, easy application, easy removal, washable and reusable, and the perfect size. I'm not exaggerating. The Screenguardz were too short by a couple of mm, whereas my last attempt to apply the ClearTouch has rendered it near impossible to remove because once it's perfectly centered there is no gap between the protector and the bezel! Good thing I like it so much eh?
