I understand they need to have a presence at those platforms, but to make it a primary communication method is just wrong. And of those platforms, to make facebook with all its blundering and misleading their primary platform makes me pissed.

For got sake. What IS the best communication channels except facebook and twitter?

I also dislike facebook and dont use it that kind of **** but still if they want to sell devices thats IS the mainchannel. Just tell me WHAT is the better marketing alternative?

TMO? Jolla.com no damn way, who on earth of non geeks would visit those alternatives?

Well, smart users/fans use Twitter for such companies, while the actual stupid world, they use Facebook. So without Facebook, it's a fail.

it's absolutely ok, to use Facebook for marketing, but i don't like the fact, that you need a Facebook account to participate in the competition.

What's wrong with their own website? I never said they shouldn't promote it on facebook/twitter, but ffs, companies should use their own website as primary medium for communication. I have no problem creating an account there as long as they don't abuse my data - heck I even have an account, as I preordered the thing. Add a "login with facebook/twitter/google+" button to it for people stupid enough to use advertising companies as their ID-providers, and everyone is happy, including Mark Zuckerberg.

However I concur, while there are open and decentralized alternatives for the facebooks and twitters, non of them have gained significant traction. They can't even decide on a single protocol. But I distrust the facebooks and twitters too much that I'd rather be outside the herd. Unlike the rest. Not following the flock. Have an own opinion and stick to it.

Fuzzillogic, what are you waiting for? If you have any suggestion to make, mail it to care(at)jolla(dot)com. :/
I support your idea of the "login with Facebook/Twitter/etc." and I think they might add it if you do suggest it..

Guys, relax! You don't need a Facebook account. However, you do need a jolla shirt. Can we leave this and continue with the jolla wet t-shirt competition?
