Hi, I noticed there are more apps for OS2007 on Maemo site... I tried to install it on my OS2008 but didn't work

I've heard of some mapper but it was non-official in some forum so I was afraid to install...Also heard about some libraries...

Is there a safe way to do it? They should be compatible, this sucks...

As far as I know there isn't any way to OS2007 apps work in OS2008. And yeah it sucks, but Nokia did it for a good reason: They wanted to make OS2008 more compatible with current Linux desktop software. Now it's easier for programmers to take an app for desktop Linux and make it run on the tablet. Also, I'm pretty sure I heard that this will be the compatibility breakage for quite a long time.

There isn't any [i]easy[/i[] way, but it's just differences of libraries. (Mainly GTK+, but presumably some others as well.) Some old software works, especially command-line stuff. The missing old libraries could be installed (they usually are present on a desktop system, where there's room for compatibility), but it would take up a lot of space. I don't know if anyone else has done this, but once I get around to repartitioning my SDHC, and putting /usr on there, I intend to do this. Just for kicks, mainly, I can't think right off of any old apps that I need...

Do you mean this script:
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/maemo/users/31212

(I haven't personally used it)

You could dump os2007 on mem card which works nicely except you cant use the arrow keys & wifi (which may make it useless)
