Since Sony camera API is open and a third party Sony Camera controller app (Auxicam on BB10) has already been developed for using QX series and other Sony Cameras, it should be possible to develop a native app for Harmattan/Fremantle to control QX cameras as well..

The app could start with basic functions - taking pictures with "Auto" settings, and transfer pictures between camera and device. Manual controls can be added later?

I would pledge £20 for the app. Hope someone with similar interests could also do some donations (I'll update here) to buy the developer a QX10?

Any suggestions are welcome!

I looked at the API and it is easily doable, it is just passing json data over wlan connection.

What I'd be more intrested in is making an OH that connects directly to the lens barrel bayonet, making it unnecessary to use the awkward-looking clip that clamps the phone sides

Better still, an OH with adaptive optics lens that would turn the Jolla's own, mediocre camera into a super-DSLR, Hubble style.

An OH with adapter similar to Sony's spa-acx1 case would be nice. I hate that wired looking clip as well.

Btw will you consider making the app for Harmattan?

Does somebody know if the camera connects with direct wifi or ad-hoc mode?

If you have the adapter you could try taking measurements from it to create a STL of it. Ordering the test versions from shapeways do not cost too much even for one-offs-prototypes, on the order of 20 euros with shipping, maximum.

If I had the thing myself, I sure would do it for SFOS, and maybe for Harmattan, why not.

At least for the QX10 it's possible to connect manually to the camera's AP SSID with the provided password.

Not sure if there's Wi-Fi Direct support for Linux out of the box.
