Hi Opposite :
Yes, there's no doubt about the default media being more reliable )) after all it has been about 3-4 years on the oven, and it's connected directly (no DBUS needed) to the media-engine... and doesn't support mplayer / other players.. thus it kills most of the problems.
Actually your problem seems to be the same as some others... our media abstraction layer was not installed correctly (why? I really wanted to find out) so when you try playing something it does nothing ...
So : can you please open xterm and try typing "atabake" ? to see at least if it's there?
What happens to canola is : we want to use the platform player (but the way for doing it ) is using DBUS, on bora and gregale it will not play musics with accents, or other characters, apart from this, Dbus is a little bit old on the platform and sometimes it just takes times.. or it just don't send the correct message..etc thus we end up in it's hand for the media playback to work correctly and it doesn't. Apart from that we also try to comply with the platform in several layers, and also be compatible with all the other versions of software.. this add a lot of problems that we are fixing it but are hard sometimes even to replicate.
Now add to this the fact that each user is unique, has unique habits... uses different repositories, some were curious and tried the edje demos, other have a soup of 10 to 15 repositories (thanks gronmayer ) and when a application that is a little bit more complex and have more dependencies comes... the mess is done : /
We are trying to improve it and that's the only reason we are releasing so much "betas" we need REAL testing from you guys, because our tests are more then prooved that cannot fulfill the needs you have : /
About the album sorted by artist? then it's not cover art but we will see what we can do, something like you choose the artist on a list, and then have a list of that artists albums... maybe.. let's see. I just don't want to have ANOTHER piece of canola that dependends on copyrighted material that users don't have by default : /

i installed Canola2 follwing the instructions on the canola homepage.
So far canola works flawless, but it canīt find any media items ?
My mp3 files are located on MMC1 Folder MP3.
I searched the forums and found this thread:
http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=16495
i have tryed scanning for media in media Section with unchecked and checked flag on MMC1 entry... in both ways no success.
One time i could see the playlists, but when starting it i got the no items found error.
Any ideas?
John
