The Nokia-case is too soft, but I don't like the bulky hardcases.
Yesterday I got my new case: SteQzwo by FreaQs. It's very stiff leather. And looks really cool

I've been thinking about a 1040 with thick foam inserts, putting it in a Tom Bihn (www.tombihn.com) snake charmer, and attaching one of Tom's shoulder straps to the nylon loops on the end of the snake charmer (so it'd be like a really low profile messenger bag). Then I just have to figure out which of the Pelican or Otterbox cases is right for holding my iGo keyboard, and whether or not to buy a box for holding cables and chargers.

I just with the snake charmer had an option for solid (non-mesh) sides, and an actual handle instead of the little loop on top. And one of the two pockets had smaller pockets for holding pens, cell phone, and maybe my wallet ... plus a key clip.
I thought about the same thing, using my Absolute Strap with a Snake Charmer...instead I am going to add another Buzz Bag instead. Some of the places i need to use the tablet will not allow one to carry a free swinging bag/purse. So it matters for me that the carrier be snug but accessible. The Buzz does that for me.

For shorter trips or simple excursions to Starbucks I have a great 'waist pack' I found at Walmart for $6. Holds everything - N800, iGo Stowaway, Tekkeon MP1550, two extra 4-packs of AA-batteries, Cradlepoint CTR350 router and Franklin CDU680. I can rig up the router/EVDO modem, slide it into the front pouch of the bag, connect the power pack and viola I have/am a walking Hotspot...kinda fun! I do the same with the better-half's Buzz, but, well, it's HERS so I only tried it out while she is gone...I know better then to snag it for me...

I wound up buying a Maxpedition fatboy bag. Need slightly more room, so I'm gonna get a Maxpedition Lunada (thought about the Colossus as well).

The fatboy fits my N810 (inside a pelican 1040), igo, and a USB battery charger (in the side pouch). But I want to have enough room to also put a cradlepoint in it. I might be able to do that with the Maxpedition Jumbo (slightly bigger than the fatboy), but I think I'm going to want to put the cradlepoint and its associated hw into another pelican box... so I'm thinking I'll get the Lunada and work down from there if it turns out to be more bag than I had really wanted.

I really like the Maxpedition lineup. If Tom made similar bags, I'd love to buy them from him... but I've been finding his stuff to be a bit more conventional than I want (not in terms of the details, he's very creative and original about the details; I mean in terms of the larger design archetypes he follows: very standard; nothing that really compares, in my mind, to the versipack nor gearslinger series from Maxpedition).

yeah, I agree with the assesment of the current bags TB offers. I own a Super Ego, Brain Cell, a few smaller accessory bags and we also have the one Buzz. And I love that it's all made in US stuff. Only a few items come from outside the US. The YKK zippers I believe and I am pretty certain all of the fabrics are US made.

I considered the Cafe Bag but again it's a loose bag that does not fit my needs.

I like that Fatboy bag, never even ran across the Maxpedition stuff before...so thanks! That bag certainly has plenty of room at over 150cu.in. Which for what I want is a lot of space. I am gonna see how the current waist bag I ahve works out. If it does I ask is TB has considered something similar for NIT users. I know they are considering a bag of some sort for the Kindle...and that might work OK for us NIT users.
