Okay, I'm totally confused on which kind of SD card I need. Everywhere it says it can hold up to 8gb as long as its 8gb sdhc. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the device has 1 miniSD slot? How does one get the device to hold 8gb of storage? Be gentle, I'm new to all this....and thanks in advance!!! Do i need a regular 8gb SDHC card and have an adapter that goes from SD to miniSD to fit the NOKIA N810? And there is just 1 slot, right? People at Nokia are telling me the N810 has 2 slots...and everywhere I've read, there is only 1) And then they told me you can put a micro card directly into the slot. I'm so confused!!!

You can use either mini SD or micro SD (the latter with an adapter micro-mini). You can't use regular-sized SD.

You can use any capacity you can get your hands on. I'm not sure what the largest micro/mini SD is, but I think I saw somewhere that you can buy 8GB micro and 6GB mini (micro being a more "trendy" format). Obviously these are implicitly of SDHC type. If there are larger cards available in the future you can use them all.

What you cannot do (and why I'm not buying an N810) is putting in a regular-sized SD card.

And the N810 has a single slot, mini-SD sized.

I'm using a 8 GB microSDHC with a miniSD adapter in the external card slot with no problems.

One thing to point out is that I had to try three different adapters before I got the N810 to recognise the miniSD.There seems to be a tolerance issue with some manufacturers.

As such I would recommend that you buy both the miniSD and the adapter togther as a combined package rather than seperately as I tried to do.

As well, in place of the extra full-sized sd slot that the N800 has, the N810 has an extra 2gb of built-in flash memory.

I'm using a Sandisk 8 GB miniSDHC with an adapter I purchased from Expansys.com.

miniSD is the physical size of the card, SDHC is the storage format. The N810 uses miniSD-sized cards and can use both SD and SDHC storage formats.

The confusion comes because SD is both a size and a storage format.

If you buy a good brand of memory card, it normally comes with its own adapter which should work fine (some of them even come with several adapters for all the different sizes).

One thing though, try NOT to buy memory cards on ebay as there are a lot of counterfeit card sellers on there. Counterfeit cards can stop working quite quickly, I know some people who were caught out by this and they were very annoyed.
