OK so I need to throw in my 2pence too...

"static" informationcontent does not have a "weight", however data processing and computation needs energy. Mass and energy are convertible to each other if we believe one shady patent clerk.

Hence, a system doing active data processing gains mass.

So if I buying a new disc at Black Friday and backUp my computer. Is the disc heavier when I’m bought it? I’m not sure what you are saying.

What if it’s a SsD?

It gains mass when you do the backup.
When it's done, it gets back the original mass.
Same goes with SSD

Is the disk heavier than when you bought it after putting stuff on it after just buying it?

It sure as hell feels heavier if you have to lug it in for servicing !



(personally ...the last time I bought "new" lap/desk top from a store was the 90's ...and it was the last time I got store servicing too....no way will I buy a new system, better to buy used and components you need new...buying new and servicing is the biggest useless money grab in tech...build it yourself...service it yourself...)

But if I’m playing HEAVY metal I’m sure it will affect the weight.

I have never serviced any tech an almost nothing has ever been broken

How do you even break SSD discs?

Maybe it does, maybe it does not. If it does, then a 2MB file would weigh twice as much as a 1MB one, even if the larger file is full of junk and the smaller contains a copy of War and Peace. A heavy metal track might be an exception, though.
