I just installed MaQii (used to be QueToo) and when I start the program, it says MaQii - Loading in the side, but it never actually loads.

When I type MaQii into terminal, under video initialization I get the error

"Couldnt load pics/colormap.pcx"

My game files are on the removable (mmc1) and QueToo worked perfectly.

MaQii works for me fine.

Did you remove Quetoo first?

I did not remove quetoo first, I installed maqii with quetoo already there. Maybe there are some config files left over that is causing problems with maqii?

Your error means it cant find data... if you go in options, does it show the correct base directory for your data files?

When I click MaQii from the menu, it says its loading it, but it never actually loads. It does not start the gui/launcher for quake.

Oh i see you were in xterm.. yea hes got a long launch string which i dont recall if launching manually.

You have python installed? You can also try typing maqii-launcher in xterm to get 'real' error message since thats what the menu icon launches.

If you think its messed up config then delete /home/user/.quake2 directory.

i'd guess to delete /home/user/.quake2 and no need to run as root

be sure to make a copy of /home/user/.quake2/baseq2/save if you want to backup your saved game, or else it will be deleted
