@instigator: try to install from x-term: sudo gainroot -> dpkg -i freeciv_2.1.2_armel.deb

What's the difference? One is a port with optimization and the latter is just a quick port with packaging?

Laughing Man: The latter is the SDL version, which runs quite well on the tablet thanks to its less screen-space-hungry approach. Porting that version takes less work, too.
Unfortunately, controls are still a tad fiddly.

It's also from the fresher Freeciv 2.1.*

Thanks for posting it, Bundyo! It's good to see so many efforts to get FreeCiv running.
