the last update for os2008 did not require a total system reflash, but only a kernel upgrade (IIRC)...

does that count as a reflash?

never! Still running my N800 with 2007 for over a year now. Have all the programs I need and it works almost flawlessly. Your mileage may vary..

lol 3 times.

twice from 0s2007-->os2008. Then flashed again for the newer os2008.
and then...I typed in a command that the terminal suggested and I saw my n800 saying removing..._____ like a million times and then when my device shut down, I realized what had happened and reflashed it with os2008. Backups have become my new best friend.

The two times I needed to reflash, one due to theming issues and the other due to theming issues, I didn't make a backup. I need a little warning message to go off telling me to back up when it senses that I'm doing something stupid. If anyone can make an app for that, I'd be eternally grateful.

Never...still using OS2007 on my N800, and I don't want to jinx it while it's working OK.

No, the last update was a NOLO update, not a kernel update.

Hey IMHO if you haven't reflashed you haven't pushed the envelope hard enough!

I have several devices so I just put what I think is the average. I have one testbed N800 that gets flashed almost weekly so it's hard to really say...

same here but keep in mind my n800 is a toy, not a work tool.

how many time have you reformated your home computer to winXP ?

do I care reflashing the n800 : no, it's part of my linux learning curve; it's not related in any way to OEM Nokia software.
