I plug in the charger, but nothing happens! Then, suddenly, it may start
charging, without me doing anything. I've tried twisting and turning the connector
around, but it doesn't seem there's a problem there. Sometimes it stops
charging, I reboot, and it starts again. I recently upgraded to os2006. Could that
have something to do with it? Maybe some strange bug?

I'm just guessing, but try plugging wall plug in the other way....?

Fingers crossed...

It could be the charger - try wiggling the cable where it comes out of the charger and see if it's a loose connection.

I strongly suspect that Nokia's got either a design or a manufacturing problem with these, because mine has effectively died because of just that problem last week.

...I then made the joy of discovering that you can't buy a replacement 2.0mm jack Nokia charger or the adaptor plug from any mobile phone shop in Heidelberg *including* the Nokia shop itself (which has them on back order). Since all Nokias made since last year now use the smaller jack, this is more than a little irritating.

aside from the battery meter not being accurate (goes from full charge to critical level suddenly), i had the problem of it not charging / reboot cycle.

the solution for me was to pop the battery, wait, replace, charge.. voila.

It completely died on me yesterday. Couldn't get it to respond to the charger at all. But then today it suddenly worked again, when I left it alone to charge(turned off). Will keep you posted on how it behaves in the future. Maybe it is just the charger that's faulty, at the end where it connects to the socket. Time wll tell, I guess.

Ok, so it was just the charger, loose connection... But when I tried to get a new one on warranty, I couldn't. Because I bought the 770 directly from nokia, I have to contact them directly. So I had to buy a charger and tell them I would bring a new one back to them, once I get it from nokia. This is the only way to get my money back, it seems. Off to mail nokia now..
