Hello. I was curious if anyone had successfully setup a cellular connection using their Nokia 770 and a bluetooth enabled cellphone using U.S. Cellular as the service provider. I've went through the Mobile Operator setup wizard, but they do not have an option for U.S. Cellular so I have to setup the connection manually.

So I click on connectivity, click connections and then choose new. It then opens the connection wizard and gives me 3 options for connection type which are, Packet data, Data call or WLAN. Obviously since its a cellular network I will be using Packet data or Data call. I am not sure which one I should use those. I am guessing I use packet data, so I select packet data and it asks me to select my cellular network, which I select CDMA because I do not use GSM. Here is where the trouble starts. It asks for a dial-up number, username and password. I am not sure what to put here.

Does anyone know the correct information, or could you point me in the right direction. Thank you very much, it would be great help.

I tried *777 and #777 and left everything else blank and when I try to connect I get the message, "Connection failed to phone Bill Phone. Try again?" Bill Phone is the bluetooth name I have given my phone. Any other ideas?

I can connect to my phone through bluetooth and transfer files, I just cant use to to get to the internet so I know they can see each other just fine.

I have unlimited Easy Edge access. I can access the internet just fine on my phone with no issues. I use Easy Edge to download songs, get weather updates, GPS, etc.

Ok so heres what new I have found. When I try and setup the cellular connection using the default setup as I listed above, once I click the OK button it tries to connect to my phone and then my phone generates a message that states, "Dialup networking service is not supported," which is fine except for the fact that I am not using a dialup service.

Alright so here is what I have found. Connecting your Nokia to your cellphone via bluetooth is also called "teathering." Unfortunate for me U.S. Cellular doesn't allow teathering on ANY of its cellphones. Now I did still find a way to do it, but supposedly the guy I found out from, did it and they cancelled his account 2 days later. But if you would like to know for informational purposes, :-), how to do it, I will be happy to share.

-Open control panel, then connectivity and choose connections
-Next select the New button
-When the connection wizard appears click next
-Type in whatever connection name you want and select Packet Data for connection type and click next
-Select your Cellular network, GSM or CDMA (mine is CDMA), and hit next
-Fill in the three fields with the following:
*Dial-up number - #777
*Username - 10-digit cellphone number@uscc.net (1234567890@uscc.net)
*Password - 10-digit cellphone number
-Once the above info is entered, click next and then click finish

You can now connect via bluetooth and surf the web.....for about 2 days and then you get your account cancelled. :-)

thats about the same info I told you. As far as your provider not allowing tethering neither does ATT and a few dozen of us here do it anyways. But who knows maybe yours monitors for that kinda thing.
