At the moment my backup strategy is to use the built-in backup program and backup to a removeable card. The problem with this is it relies on me; I'd much rather have something automatic which backed up whenever it could see my home wifi network and associated Windows fileshares. I'm pretty much a Linux/Unix virgin but it seems to me that this can be done with chron and rsync assuming rsync can see the share in question - is that right?

This thread

http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ead.php?t=5824

discusses how to auto-mount a Windoze share on the N800 but it's talking about OS2007. Is there a better/easier/more fully explained :-) method for OS2008? (Windoze XP, for what it's worth, over 802.11g).

Alternatively, it would be nice if the built-in backup program could see the Windoze share, of course - the file manager can, but the backup program can't. At least my backups would then be to the share not to a fiddly little loseable card...

Many thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Tim
