I'm sure many of you have already done this but I am so amazed by it I had to share.

I have spent the last month getting my Rdesktop to work with my home computer via PAM. It finally works flawlessly.

Anyhow, I was just playing around, opening MS Office, Limewire, Firefox, etc... and I thought, "what if my web cam will pull up?"

It did. I am able to view what my webcam views anywhere, anytime I want. I have it set at my front doorway now so I can see what is going on at my house whenever I want.

It doesn't exactly "stream". It refreshes every second or two but come on, that is pretty amazing. I now have a security camera view of my house whenever I log on to Rdesktop. Amazing.

Just thought I'd share.

I don't know what camera you have, but if it's a d-link dcs-6xxx, or similar, there's a URL which fetches a single jpeg; it's trivial to make a page that reloads this rather more than 1 fps; about 5-10 on a desktop. Though I haven't actually tried from a tablet, I expect it'll be at least as fast (and quicker to get to) than rdesktop...

I just use Orb. You can view your web camera with any computer including your IT. And it is a real streaming with about a 5 seconds delay. I have been using it for a long time.
