From a hijacked thread Assisted GPS would seem VERY useful for other GPS programs (Navit, Roadmap, and the granddaddy MaemoMapper). Is there any work going on to try and incorporate it in any of these?

It communicates with gpsdriver afair, this is below the level of gpsd even, so any program using gpsd should quite happily be able to use the assistance.

Does the sw prompt you to allow it to use a mobile phone connection when using it with Map (but not with other sw)? I don't use that method and have to manually start the agps-ui.

Iirc agps-ui starts up gpsdriver & gpsd (the status bar icon comes up) and I assume that as long as it receives its almanac/ephemeris data from the supl server these data are saved by gpsdriver (so it doesn't matter if you then close it all down and start some mapping application afterwards).

Any thoughts?
