FYI, Media Converter from Maemo does support VOB conversion. I use it for Nokia 770. Quality is pretty good, in my opinion. Only thing, there is no option for it to select the particular sound track you want. So first time I ran it, I found it selected the "English (Director's comments)" soundtrack, instead of the regular movie soundtrack. I use DVDFab to extract the VOB files. So now, I just have DVDFab strip off all the soundtracks except for the main movie sound track before using Media Converter. Actually, DVDFab can probably do the conversion into an 770/N800/N810 format, but I am not very fluent in the different video formats, etc., so I'm not quite sure what to select for the conversion. In Media Converter, the program takes care of most of the settings.

As I was thinkiing, the no sound fault was a not result of Media Converter but of the previous encoding to take the VOB files and turn them into something ITMC would accept.

I seem to have found a foolproof and easy way to get the VOB files ready for ITMC with Amersoft's DVD Ripper so I'm up and running now.
