Sorry in advance for wordiness!

I've been reading various threads on the ability to watch the BBC news sites on the Nokia 770 and 800 (both of which I have).

I COULD watch BBC 10 o'clock news on both, BUT now only on the 800, even though I changed nothing.

I COULD watch Look North (local Yorkshire news on the BBC web site) on both but now cannot on either (again I changed nothing). I did try a trick on my 800: On the Look North web page (actually the BBC's page) you can choose "Preferences" in which you can choose "high" or "standard" speed and Windows Media Player or Real 1; if I choose Real 1 (which is really Realplayer) the site won't run; if I chooses Media Player, Look North runs (albeit at mediocre clarity). In other words, if I choose something other than Realplayer I can view video!

It is VERY strange that both machines could view all the BBC's videos, but now mostly not. It can't be that the Beeb has upgraded their output because on the 800 I can still view the flagship news, the 10 o'clock News.

While I'm at it, why does my 770 automatically open the video player rather than the audio applet when I visit radio site?

WorldTV99 has both BBC HeadlineNews and Looknorth.
Press the green install here, http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/worldtv99/
Enjoy,

Bun:

Thanks, I'll give it a spin! ... but just for interest's stake, any idea why this happened to me and many others?

BBC have been changing things around as they push their flash based iplayer system instead of realplayer and windows media.
And they've made their news site wider for no good reason other than annoying people with 800 pixel screens

... in which case they're bloody buggers!

I thank Bunanson, but will have a problem with WorldTV99 as it apparently is for OS 2008, which is a no-no for my 770 ... any idea?

Thanks in advance for excellent social work!

WorldTV99 does not work well on 770. This works very well on 770, please try, VCURLs72. It used to have BBC NewsHeadlines, but i took it out since the video is low res. But it has a lot of other channel that worth watching and listen to. Give it a shot, and see whether you like it. Link are in my signature,

Installation is very straight forward,

dl the primary3.db.zip, unzip into primary.db and myvideos.db and replace the same files in /home/user/videocenter, refresh update,
that is it, go watch 72 TV channels.

enjoy,

bun
