Hi there

I'm very new to this, only had my N810 for a week. I have flashed it to Diablo.

It has worked terrific, until yesterday, when I suddenly realised that I didn't get any mails anymore...

Gmail imap, set to 15 minuttes autoretrieval.
Connected to my W-lan.
Internet and RSS reader works fine.

Troubleshooting started:
When I choose Tools, Send and Recieve, Gmail - Nothing happends. I know there are mails waiting.

I composed a mail, but when it tried to send it, it didn't succeeded. Shifting from Sending to Fail (I have to say that I use my N810 in danish, so I will try to translate to english, and I'm not quite sure if the text would actually said Fail, if my tablet was in english...)

I then deleted my gmail account, made a new, and reentered all the settings again. But the same happend.

Then I aborted the W-lan connection, and tethered it to my Nokia E66, and tried the same. Now I get a message that my username or password are wrong - I have tried entering them again, and I know they are right. But the same message was showed again.

My mail, with the same username and password, is working fine on my E66.

What to do??

I have now reflashed to the newest firmware (the same as I had before). I did restore my backup, without emails and settings. Set up a new email-acount, my imap gmail. But the problem is exactly the same. When I connect via wifi, nothing happends at all. If I connect via my phone, it says that my username og password are wrong...??

Maybe I will try to reflash Chinook now.

Now I have flashed the N810 back to Chinook. Did not do any restore this time. Did my imap gmail acount, and... nothing. Absolutely the same thing. Wrong username or password or ports.

Well, now I think that the problem is at gmail... But my Nokia E66 is working fine with my imap gmail acount...??

There was one good thing about flashing back to Chinook though. I was able to get that N810 promo-video back, who disapeared when I flashed to Diablo

Does starting
/usr/bin/maemo-summoner /usr/bin/modest.launch showui in Diablo provide some output?
Also note that the email applications used for Chinook and Diablo are completely different and don't share any code, so this really sounds like GMail configuration problem.

Happened to me too this weekend. Same conf.

It works fine now. I guess it was a problem on Gmail's side.

No... I don't think so atleast. I'm pretty new to all this, so...

Yes, and that was the reason that I flashed to Chinook, then It can't be Diablo/Modest who's playing tricks on me.

I think that the fault is at Gmail, but I don't have a clue (other than wait and see) what to do about it.
It's still not working on my N810, but it works perfectly on my Nokia E66.

Well, I guess that I have to wait and see...

Since updating to the SSU for diablo modest fails to retreive ANY new mail. You can confirm this by..

a) The UI always shows receiving, but never finishes
b) the red (x) doesn't cancel
c) killall modest and reopening modest will show new mail

I will report this as a bug today.

Well, I'm about to pull the (very last) hair out of my head !

When I'm connected to my wifi and push Send & Recieve absolutely nothing happens. I don't get the red cross and I don't see any sign of activity AT ALL.

When I try the same, thethered to my Nokia E66, I get a message saying: username or password or portnumbers are wrong, or servername or portnumbers are wrong

I have set the account up again, many many times, and double- and tripplechecked the settings.

What really bothers me is that the same account, with the exactly same settings had worked before, the last time it worked was probably thursday. And it works on my Nokia E66 and had worked without any trouble at all.
That tells me that gmail isn't down, otherwise my E66 wouldn't work also...

I upgraded to Diablo when I bought the N810, and the mail was fine.
When it go wrong, I flashed to Diablo again, flashed to Chinook, flashed back to Diablo, updated Diablo yesterday, reformated the internal memcard.

When I shut down modest and do: killall modest it says: no process killed

I'm totaly lost. Now what to do???

I did have some trouble at first but I've re-added and it seems fine now. With the added bonus that I don't seem to be getting the application errors from modest any more.

I don't remember what it was set to before, but I did note that my user name now has to be my gmail address, e.g. yourname@gmail.com
