i don't use gmail but since OS update, Modest does not load at all. Email loading box comes up but no email client. Very handy - not.

i use gmail with pop, and it works fine. i had to go into my gmail account and tell it to do pop again. i don't know why i had to do this. i also ended up reflashing diablo in order to get this update to install.
i have noticed that there is no longer a blue led notification when a new email comes. maybe if i leave modest open the led will blink.
it's annoying. i really liked that led notification.
does anyone know of a fix foe this?

I use gmail, but with the default IMAP setup, and email notification works for me whether I'm actually running the email application or not.

Is it possible you inadvertantly turned off that particular notification in the control panel? ...or that it got somehow reset by some other process or person?

Well, my gmail is still not working - at home !
I visited my mother yesterday, and at her house my N810 gladly retrieved my mails from gmail in Modest ?!

I did bought a new wireless router, about when my problems started. Can it be the culprit? My new router is a Siemens Gigaset SE 361, and I have experimented with the firewall, and everything I could get my mind on.

My old router was a Netgear WGR614. I have just ordered another one,, and will see if my problems go away.

What bothers me is that I still can't get my mail on the N810, when thethered to my Nokia E66 - It keeps saying wrong servername, username or password, or wrong portnumbers... But maybe it's two separate problems?

I'm really puzzled here. But it DID work a couple weeks ago, and it's gonna work again, somehow or the other.

Modest seems a little fragile to me; despite having cleared out /var/lib/gconf/apps/modest and /home/user/.modest, I'm still not getting any auto send/receive with Gmail - and even doing it manually seems a little unstable.

So much effort went into the "purity" of tinymail, making a reliable email client on top seems to have played second fiddle.

Ok, problem solved (partly).

I have now recieved my new router, A Netgear WGR614v9, and my mail is working beautiful again !

Conclusion: DON'T buy a Siemens SE361 wireless router - Without any reason, I could figure out, mail just aint working at all, with this router !
