Uhh... yeah. Any idea whether or not someone using a 770 as a webserver would constitute "News for Nerds"? I think it would, and if you tell me where it is, I'll personally submit it to /.; then you can use it for a hotplate at the same time...

Depends what you want from your carputer, but I think a 770 has enough capability to be a carputer. Storage is cheap these days, so go audiophile and keep all your music as uncompressed .wavs to save CPU, and I think it should work. My N800 handily does GPS/nav (MM), and plays 256kb/s .mp3s (mpd), and only bogs down a little when text-to-speeching (flite, either from MM, or cyborg.py). If you axed (or even used the DSP for) MP3 decoding, I think a 770 would probably work fine.

You can watch the DVD of The Fantastic Four with your N770 in hand and dream.

What app are you using for slide show. I tried installing "Kagu" but I get error on it. I already have "Mirage" installed on. But Mirage slide show stops after showing last photo in the folder. Is there any app which can keep looping through.

As with everybody here, N770 is my ex-flame and I still love it and want to use it.

Mine is running 2006 with dual boot with Fanush's hacks.

Thanks in advance.

I think I've decided to use it as a clock/photo frame.

I've got it running 2008HE, SSH installed with gainroot.

I want to use mClock. But Application Manager says Python cannot be found (same result using .install from maemo.org, or the python repository).

Also, like tama, I would like a simple slide-show application that will simply cycle through photos and repeat. Hopefully one that scans a folder for photos, so I can upload via SSH without messing with the 770.

I have started another thread on photo frame, so that I do not hijack this thread. Please post anything related to Photo frame on that thread. Thanks.
