I've had a Palm for a number of years and just got an N810 and upgraded to the 2008 OS. I'm trying to hotsync for the first time and I think I've given it the IP address of my laptop where the palm desktop resides but it keeps giving me a message of "failed - can't connect" Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Some suggestions:
  • Check your laptop's IP address to make sure you have it correct.
  • Double-check that you've enabled network HotSyncing in the HotSync software on your laptop.
  • Make sure any firewall software on your laptop isn't blocking the network HotSync.
  • Get your laptop and your tablet in the same network subnet.

Still can't get it. I noticed that when I go into my hotsync manager and enable network connections, the IP address of my computer is wrong but it is greyed out and I can't change it. (I use an actiontec wireless modem and my IP address changes each time I boot up.) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Is it possible to enter a subnet mask in GVM?

click activc Sync on PC>setup>Network>TCP/IP settings... subnet mask (optional)

Not sure that is what you want.

There doesn't seem to be an option to set netmask on the GVM side though. Presumably it only handles class C nets.
