Hi,

First of all, hi to everyone I'm new on this forum but have been the pround owner of an N800 (&N770) for some time.

Last night I updated to diablo but the N800 refuses to connect to my zykel router. I tried reinstalling the second time without restoring my old settings from backup, but it still did not work.

I went back to a previous version of OS2008 and it worked first time.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks,

lol. My unit would lock up anytime I connected to Wifi and wouldn't release until the unit disconnected from Wifi. So you're not alone. I think it's something sorta borked with Diablo.

i have a very similiar problem. My n800(os 2008 diablo latest updates) will not connect to my router anymore. I get the error "network communication error. try again?" when i attempt to select connection -> my router network.

If i reboot my router, I can reconnect and browse the web for a brief moment (like load 1 website), but the connection gets lost again.

anyone have any ideas what is going on?

I think that Diablo is a bit too picky on how it handles wireless network connections. If something's even a tiny bit out of place it gags.

Well, i got it working again. I did a 'control panel' > 'tools' > 'restore original settings' and then i deleted and readded my wifi connection details. I'm guessing it was the deleting and readding that really did the job.

man, the nokia n800 is virtually useless with a web connection.

You know.. I've been experiencing wifi issues on mine too. It feels like it's getting worse--but I'm pretty sure it's been there ever since the Diablo upgrade. I will surf the intarweb or download podcasts and suddenly the wifi connection drops.. I end up having to disconnect and reconnect to get back on. Sometimes, if I disconnect and try to reconnect, I can't even scan. It gets to the point where I end up needing to power off the Nokia N800 and boot it back up again to be able to even scan for networks again.

What's the deal?

I just "upgraded" to diablo. I can't connect to my WLAN. So what is the verdict? Did anyone figure out what is the problem?

How do I go back to an older version of OS2008? If I use the Nokia upgrade software it defaults to the diablo version but offers a "browse" option. I don't know where to find the older (stable?) version.

Thanks for any help.

Is this an N800 issue?
Anyone with an N810 having it?

Diablo came with icd2, which is completely written from scratch to replace the old icd; quite possible it's got some bugs, but it works fine here.

In some cases, backing off power saving will help; Zyxel routers specifically are known to have issues where the power saving capabilities are broken on the router end (it claims to support power saving measures, but implements them wrongly). The known issue affected Chinook, as well, though.

For anyone at Nokia to have a chance fixing it, the model and firmware revision of the routers that trigger this condition would be key, as well as a comparison of which power saving modes work and fail. It would be best if you could at least get that info and file/append to a bug report, instead of just bailing directly to a reflash.

A quick google search for "nokia N800 download" would wind you up here in short order, though...

Yes I have the N800.

I assume you guys are talking about a Zyxel, rather than Zykel, router. That is what I have and the point about the power saving problem is intriguing. While I don't know much about it, I don't see how power saving would affect the ability to make the initial connection. I would have thought it would create a problem with maintaining the connection. In my case, I can't get connected even for a few seconds.

In any case, I will disable that in the N800 and see if it works.

I did locate the site where I can download other versions of the OS2008 software so that I can flash back to something that works with my set up. I have not, however, given up just yet on making my setup work with the latest software.

thanks.
