Unfortunately, this is really a bug in the os. The best suggestion I can give is to turn off auto capitalization in the text input settings.

Oh. I didn't know since I always use the hardware keyword.

Thanks.

Unfortunate you can't win.

you can use

spincontrol.set_property('hildon-input-mode', 2)

to set numeric only which will activate the built-in numberpad exclusively. The problem is you don't get "." You could try "TELE" mode, but because some of the letters allowed are shared with numbers it does not enable the numbers 'Fn' mode by default.

Turning off auto-caps is easy, you just use the same function, but make sure that bit 30 is off. http://maemo.org/api_refs/4.1/gtk+2....onGtkInputMode

Short of one or two of your fields though there is no good way to have money entry [0-9\.] only. It sucks.

Thanks for the advice! I've set the fields to allow only numeric and special characters. Now my n800 keyboard doesn't try to auto capitalize, and has alpha keys greyed out! I think it's the best I'm going to get... However, I'm still unsure how it will act with a n810 hardware keyboard.

Anyway, I've updated the first post with version 1.2. If a n810 user could test this out and let me know if the keyboard situation is better, that would be great!

No, still no luck with N810. Now the screen keyword is much more useful, though.

Hey wow! Thanks for this app! I used to LOVE having one of these types of apps on my ol' Palm Tungsten T5 and since moving on to always carrying around the Nokia instead, I've missed this tool.

I'll be installing it soon on my N800 and hopefully this'll be yet another one of those apps I can't live without always installing right away! Thanks again!

Is that app on the repos yet?
It definitely belongs there!

I don't really see myself pulling the n800 in a restaurant to calculate the tip...
Still, it looks nice, great job!

liri: It's not in the repos, but that's something I want to do when I have time... I think the code needs some cleanup too. My plan is to create a garage project for my small utility calculators (weight watchers, and tip calculator currently), and then put those in extras. Of course, this whole plan hinges on the "When I have time" aspect...

Glad to see some renewed interest in this program, though. When I create the garage page, etc. I'll have to look at the code again to see if there's anything I can add...
