The start menu (My selection / Communications / ...) can be configured by Panels.
But where is the configuration file where this is stored ? so I can edit it by hand .
After an update of maemo-mapper the shortcut to maemo mapper was lost so I want to add it manually.

How can I do this ?

the files are kept under /usr/share/applications/hildon . Each entry is kept in its own .desktop file. If I were you I would just uninstall and reinstall maemo mapper. Doing that won't remove your settings.

I had the same issue after the mapper upgrade. I use "Personal Menu" to launch my applications. The link in that program for mapper no longer worked. I tried running mapper in a terminal window and the ap did start up successfully. I manually added mapper to the Personal Menu and it worked so I just deleted the non-functioning link.
