Every time I turn on my tablet, I get an orange exclamation point telling me some obscure third-party application I installed and never use has an update. I would rather check for updates myself manually when I feel like it. So please tell me, how do I make it stop?

You could just uninstall the applications you don't use. No more useless updates and more free space.
