I've had my 770 since last December and have been mostly pleased with it since. However a couple of days ago, the 770 started humming whenever I have the cover off (i.e., the display is on). This isn't a very loud hum, but perceptible when used.

Has anyone encountered this issue?

As Nokia (US) Support suggested sending the 770 back for repairs, I'm also curious how others experience has been with Nokia repairs?

Hi, I just wanted to say that mine is always humming when the backlight not is set to maximun, which I think indicates that it is some DC-DC converter that pumps up the juice to 80 Volts, that is how old Palms got their backlight. Listen close to a Palm V with backlight on and you will hear a similar sound.

Just seems odd that I would start noticing this all of a sudden after 10 months of use ...

I suspect it is the inductor in the LED power supply that has come partially unpotted. I have seen that in LED flashlights.

Not sure what to recommend as a solution.
