Another niggle: When I go to post to my blog I get a posting error. However the post has actually gone to the blogger system. I ignore the error now but it's something to look into.

Thanks.
It seems you are writing the url as: http://your_blog_url.com/xmlrpc.xml
It should be http://your_blog_url.com/xmlrpc.php or only http://your_blog_url.com without the xmlrpc thing (in this last version it can detect automatically this part).

The app could add xmlrpc.php to the url or not add it, but I didn't see why it would add xmlrpc.xml because not exist function to do it.
Are you sure that maemo wordpy added it?
Well, surely, because it's xmlrpc.php not xmlprc.php

It's weird because it should show an error if something was bad. Are you using some special livejournal account or special network settings?
I can't reproduce it with my test account.

nope, everything is defaults.
only thing i can think of is that i trigger something by forgetting to activate the wifi before attempting to send the post.
but even then it should not have any effect after i have shut down and restarted wordpy?
it simply seems to sit there, no traffic in log, nothing.
