I installed x48 but clicking on the icon does nothing. Running it from a putty session (both as root and as 'user') gives the following result:



which tells that I am missing a .rom file (I have it as I have an emulator for Windows as well and have the physical device as well) but also something like the x3hm.

Any ideas on this ?

I downloaded the rom files for Power48. Had to create /home/user/.hp48/rom. Copied HPGX48Romfile.bin into it and renamed to rom.dump.

Tried running x48 from xterm, got :

cant load fort '-*-fixed-bold-r-normal-*-14-*-*...-iso8859-1
please change resource 'smallLabelFont'

I'm lost from there.

Nokia 770 (very slow) Installation Notes:

1. Obtain x48-gxrom-r.tar.gz or x48-sxrom-e.tar.gz and extract into your home directory. E.g.:

cd ~
tar zxvf x48-gxrom-r.tar.gz

2. Download the x48 binary and save in /var/lib/install (or any other directory in your PATH).
3. Fix permissions: chmod 755 x48
4. To run type: x48 -geometry +0+0 -xrm '*smallLabelFont: fixed' -xrm '*mediumLabelFont: fixed'
-xrm '*largeLabelFont: fixed' -xrm '*connectionFont: fixed'
I followed these instructions and have it running. Putting the 810 in performance mode doesn't help with the speed, though. It is pretty slow.

ETA: Once you unpack the correct rom, the icon will work to launch the application as well.
