Search, please. And don't double post

Pidgin is in extras. (Or look up rtcomm).

A plugin to support AIM accounts would be neat.

rjzak: http://rtcomm.garage.maemo.org/ is what you're looking for. AIM is supported, although I'm not sure if it works with diablo. My experience was that Pidgin just works better.

Does it require Pidgin? I'd prefer to not use Pidgin so I can have a cleaner, more minimalistic, approach to communications on the Tablet. Thanks though, I will give it a shot.

You can use jabber to connect to this and it doesn't require any plugins, there is some details on this on the forums.
(I use jabber.org.uk and this connects to msn/aim/icq )

rjzak: rtcomm beta integrates itself in the tablet's chat interface. So, when setting up an account, you can choose AIM instead of just google talk, or jabber.

It does, though installation of the RTCOMM beta isn't as straight forward as it ought to be.

One thing, when using rtcomm, you dont have all the status features and such as you would with pidgin....biggest thing for me is that you cant go invisible.
