I needed to reflash my N800 and lost the Gainroot program I used all the time, I use this as I do not want to turn on R & D mode

I tried getting this from EKO ONE as all sites send me to this site but I receive error 404 when accessing this site from device

Believe you need to enable the extras repository which should be an available repository in the list, just enable it? (Catalogs of application manager)

Enable maemo Extras http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras

Once extras is enabled you should be able to see the program you wish to install in the list.

By the way when you look at http://eko.one.pl/maemo you get following clue

Eko1 repo was shut down, due to request of maemo.org's webmaster. (https://wiki.maemo.org/Task:Reducing...l_repositories) Use Extras from maemo repo.

You can/should use rootsh now. It does the same thing (and more) than gainroot. You can find and install it from Extras.

Thanks I was not getting the msg you stated, I was just getting the standard 404 error this page has been removed

If you are flashing to OS2008, I noticed becomeroot was not available. I installed rootsh, as Mara suggested. It allows root shell just like becomeroot does, and a few things more. Works well.
