Hi, I just purchased the N810 WiMax, and I was wondering what are the recommended programs to install? [(From well acquainted users of course.)(I'm a gamer also and I'm looking to install AIM as well.)]

I'm growing to love this thing, since people said this device shits directly on the Apple iTouch, Lol.

What kind of accessories did each of guys get? Anything worthwhile?
I'm mainly looking for an efficient screen protector at the moment, wanted to see if there is anything else that may boost performance, prevent scratching, damage, etc...

I heard you can sync the N810 to your phone via bluetooth, is this true? I also heard you needed to install a program.

I would read everything on the forums now but I got some things to do, and I intend to learn everything there is about this little sexy gadget later; and if you guys are kind enough to guide me in the right direction, it is most appreciated.

My personnal favorite is Maemo Mapper. Not only can I view sattilite views and street level views, but I can add "weather" or "traffic" layers to an existing map. I can zoom in to my neighborhood and see that it is raining one block away! My next favorite is Syype, a ip phone application that I use when I am in a poor cell phone reception area.

Some applications I have installed on mine are:

3.) Pidgin Internet Messenger
4.) Large Statusbar-Clock
5.) Claws-mail


Thats a good amount of little apps to start with that will give you a little more experience using and setting up your device.

Have you tried the WiMAX service yet?

Bah, I can't afford the WiMAX service nor the Skype service, other than that, I'm very satisfied with this machine. Can't wait to install the apps. =)

I downloaded the foreca weather app, is the OmWeather app better?

So far I'm downloading most of the apps from maemo.org.
I was wondering if the Canola2 app improves youtube quality also? So I don't waste any space.

gpodder is good for downloading radio shows from CBC, BBC, NPR, PBS, Wall Street Confidential, and Bloomberg etc. I found it more reliable than Canola's podcast function.
Maemo Mapper is great.
Clawsmail is pretty impressive.
Garnet's GVM is indispensible for my palm applications-has a few quirks but can be managed beautifully once you're aware that syncing works very well for the basic palm apps.
FBReader is good if you can get Rich Text books. Otherwise put Mobireader on your GVM.
Mplayer is handy sometimes.
