Has anyone remarked (and solved) the following issue?

When using the Chr key to choose and input accented characters on the manual keyboard, after the second hit on the accented letter the system either deletes a 'new paragraph' mark if there is one or skips the following letter (the cursor moves automatically beyond the next letter). I observed this while writing text online, in other words while I use the microB browser.

This does not happen after just one combined hit of the Chr key and the targeted character or when using a fresh input field with no content (for example when starting a new message on a web based email service as opposed to replying to an incoming message).

I found the use of the Chr key to select from different versions of the letter pretty nice, but with this bug it is almost useless for me, especially when writing in Spanish (with the keyboard set to Es). I forgot to say that I am still on chinook.

Thanks
Antonio

No one else had this problem?

I went to the bugzilla and found something related, but refers to special characters on the Spanish physical keyboard, which creates special characters with the help of the apostrophe: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3250. I my case the keyboard has the US layout.

I guess I'll add a comment there.

Well, looks like I am having a monologue... .

I posted a comment on another bug report (which was not the right one, sorry) and got a quick answer suggesting an upgrade to Diablo. Which I did and the issue was solved! Great, I can use the tablet for extensive mailing. And thanks for the quick reply.

Hi Antonio
I do not have this problem using Portuguese in my N810.

Obrigado Francisco.

Does your N810 have a Portuguese layout: maybe you do not need to use the Chr key. Also, as I mentioned, I encountered the problem only with Chinook, when I upgraded to Diablo the issue was solved.

Antonio,

I didn't have the problem in Chinook using accented Spanish characters with my US layout keyboard.

Anyway, if Diablo solved your problem, forget it.

Adiós.

This did not happen for me with Chinook or Diablo. My N810 is configured to have the keyboard layout to "Spanish, French(Canada), Portuguese" so that I must use the key Fn to write the accented characters. With this option I do not have the accents with Chr key. If I use Chr with the open keyboard I become only some special characters like Euro, Yen, etc. The layout of the blue symbols (Fn) is changed so I must remember the new layout.
Since I am from long time a Palm user I write most of the time with the stylus.
But as Alephito said, if this was cured with Diablo then forget it.

Ok folks: apparently there must have been some settings in my tablet under Chinook which caused the issue. So, since I was apparently the only one with this and that under Diablo the bug went away then let's say, case closed.
Thanks for your input.
