5. A multimedia terminal according to claim 4, wherein said touch sensitive display comprises a multi-touch display sensitive to touches in which the touch sensitive display is contacted at a first point and the contact moves to a second point where it is released.

AFAIK, the first application of multitouch in the UI of a handheld communication terminal

If it were the first, one would think there would be an independent claim directed to just that feature, rather than a dependent claim to an independent claim with a lot of other junk in it.

Granted, it can't be said that Nokia got the patent because of the multi-touch feature. But it is the first patent covering a cell phone that includes multi-touch.

When asking who was the first to invent a cell phone that includes multi-touch touchscreen, the answer is Nokia.
