So I picked up my Nokia 770 again after being ignored for a few months. First thing I did was go to Applications Manager and do an update. I noticed Pidgin was among them and updated it. Now, when I tried running it, this is the error I got:

"Internal Error. Application 'Pidgin Internet Messenger' Closed"

I uninstalled Pidgin and then re-installed it and it is still a no go. Does anyone know how I can fix this? OR, does anyone know where I can get v.2.3.1?

Thanks!

I broke down and reflashed the 770 today and still no go. I am using OS2007HE + Fanoush's faster kernel + MMC clone. Any thoughts on this? Anyone else experiencing this? Just me?

I tried installing Pidgin myself, and I found 3 un-installable files, so It wouldn't run. I've posted a Pidgin problem myself, and as usual no reply.

trying to get answers on here is like talking to a brick wall.

Your conclusion is overly vague and depends upon acceptance of unfounded generalities.

You do realize that the probability of the author/maintainer of Pidgin reading your message(s) on this forum are fairly slim, right?

When you have a problem with your car, do you spray paint your complaint on the road that you drive on to work each day, in hopes that your mechanic will see it, then seek you out to further troubleshoot/diagnose the source of the problem?

If so, do you just spray paint generalities like "my car doesn't work right", or do you give specific error messages and repeatable scenarios to reproduce the problem?

I don't drive so I don't have a car.

The files are:

pidgin-otr,
Unable to install pidgin otr
Application packages missing: libgcrypt11
libgpg-error0 (>= 1.0)
libgcrypt11
libgpg-error0 (>= 1.0)

purple-protocol- bonjour
Unable to install purple-protocol-bonjour
Application packages missing: perl-base (>=5.6.0)

purple-protocol-sametime
Unable to install purple-protocol-sametime
Application packages libmeanwhile1 (1>=1.0.0)

These are the missing files. When I try to run it, it loads and an error message appears Internal error. Application "Pidgin Internet Messenger" closed.

The unable to install message appears on all three of these files.

I am using a Nokia 770 Internet tablet using Internet Tablet OS2007 Hacker Edition.

Ah. Well, it seems as though you captured the complete gist of my message, then, as none of it would apply to someone who doesn't drive, and the entirety of the text can be summarily ignored/discarded. Now who do you think feels as though he's talking to a brick wall??

Try locating the files you need by going to http://www.gronmayer.com/it or http://fms.komkon.org/Maemo and searching for the repositories that need to be added.

I had the same problem - internal error or "Alarm clock" message in console.

I have found this and it works http://www.solodovnikov.ru/pidgin_ma...cription.shtml (Pidgin 2.5.1 on my Nokia 770 with OS2007HE)
