I suggest starting with the first Newbie link in my sig. In light of your earlier near-identical posting, maybe the second Newbie link too.

Well sorry to posting 2 times but what you have given me does not

really help my question any unless you do know if there is a different

onscreen keyboard and would like to share.

Well, if you had clicked the first of GeraldKo's Newbie links, typed some clever phrase in the search box, and clicked Search, you'd have found something that would "help your question"; I tried onscreen keyboard and found references to at least 4 such programs within the first 3 pages.

Of course, if you don't search for something and read the results, it won't help you. But if that's too much effort, you must not need an answer very badly.

sorry guys, but I conducted the same search and came up lacking too. Bear with us newbies, your patience will pay off in the long-run.

  • matchbox-keyboard
  • ukeyboard
  • xkbd
  • xvkbd
(Although I appear to have been in error; on skimming back through, I'm not seeing ukeyboard in the search results, though I thought I had seen it the first time. Guess there were only 3.)

Well, if you want to learn something REALLY new, you could check out QuikScript, although I have to admit that it may not be quite what you had in mind. But at least it brings Benson's total up to 4. And it's actually rather cool just for its novelty.

Also, I hadn't looked at it in a while, but, hey, if I can stand to learn it again, it may be the best keyboard for a vertically rotated tablet.

Note that all the other keyboards are not really hildonized -- it won't pop up automatically inside text field and programs won't resize itself. You also have to open and close the keyboards manually. But they are useful for non-hildonized apps like Easy Debian, dosbox e.t.c where the built-in keyboard won't work.

In short, there is no better keyboard then the built-in version as far as maemo hildon apps are concerned.
