gives

e: could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg /lock - open (11 resources temporarily unavailable)
e. unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process useing it?
how could i resolve this?

Either something else (Application Manager?) is holding the lock file open, and/or you're not trying this as root. Why not use Application Manager to uninstall it?

uninstalled it finally after uninstalling some dependencies - not very clear why that suddenly worked though...
can you see in the application manage stuff that you installed via apt-get or stuff installed from factory - i can't?

Application Manager does a superior job of handling dependencies compared to apt-get. Both share the same DB of installed packages.
