Hi Guys,

I'm new around here and i just ordered my Nokia N810 if all goes well it should be in my hands by tommorow evening.

My main reason to buy one was to create little games for it. I already owned a gp2x from gamepark holdings which is more designed to be a game system but it ran on linux as well and i was able to create a few games for it. To name a few : sokoban clone with over 700 levels, Blockdude clone, Dynamate port, blips, checkers and many more, ....
you can check out the screenshots and information about the games on my website here : http://www.willemssoft.be/index.php?main=5&sub=6

I will probably be trying to port all of these to the N810 i believe it should be fairly straight forward but then again i don't own the N810 yet so i don't know.

I'm also not so good a programmer in my own opinion because my code looks bad mainly because i had no experience what so ever with c/c++ until i bought the gp2x and i learned by well the error and trial method.

However i do look forward (trying) to create games for it checking everything out the system has to offer.

This place seems great and i hope it is as good as the gp2x community is.

Cheers
joyrider

Willems Soft... as in, Dirk Willems? (sorry if that's an obscure reference. i know a direct descendant of dirk willems; maybe you're related. this would be my first attempt at the mennonite game in itT. had to give it a shot. [again, "mennonite game" might be an obscure reference. not worth explaining, really.])

Thanks guys and actually my name is willems davy, don't really now a dirk willems but yes we might be related who knows

Anyway i just got the beauty and i love it. I did had some problems with it at first like that out of the box it wouldn't play MP3's nor any movies but i quickly fixed this by updating the firmware to the latest version.

Anyway i do have one question i had bought myself a 8 gig micro sd card thinking she would accept it but i found out it actually had to be a mini sd card. Does there exist some kind of adaptor i could use to still use the microsd card ?

thanks

Hey guys, i finally got my device set up with usb networking and am able to mount NFS shares from my dev pc. so i can basicly do everything like i did it with the gp2x.

I also started porting my gp2x znax game. I was surprised how easily it was, i ran a simple compile and it ran already. Ofcourse i had to change stuff since i only owned a gp2x F100 (so no touchscreen) and the screensize was 320x240 so i doubled that. It runs pretty well on the n810 although in the movie i made it seems it's running slow but that's probably due to my old linux dev box wich can't handle 25fps or something. (It runs great on the n800). I made a little swf movie using vnc2swf so u guys know what the gameplay will be like, it's availible here http://users.telenet.be/IMS/N810/znax.html

Oh yeah nhanquy thanks for the link, still have to order it but might check the local stores before i do

Wait, you have a GP2X? Geez, I've been requesting one of those for review for months and I kept getting told that they're not available yet. *groan*
