I have been having a problem with my nokia rebooting lately. It happens after I have it on for a while. This is usually how it happens: I am using it and then go to lock it, but the screen locked notification takes a few seconds to pop up. Then none of the buttons are responsive. Then the device reboots to the nokia screen and boots up. After it boots it is fine for a while, but this problem is making my tablet almost unusable since I can't rely on it every day if its going to randomly reboot. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking it might be a memory loop from something that I installed, but I tried to uninstall everything I installed recently from the maemo repository with no luck. My next step is to reflash, which I haven't had to do since I got the thing.

Thanks.

With strange behavior like that a re-flash sounds like a good idea. Today my N810 hung up installing PackageView and wouldn't respond to any form of input. I pulled the battery and replaced it. The power button now worked. During startup I got a message that the install was being repaired and finally it started. All is normal again and the new ap was installed and working.

In case anyone was wondering, I sent my N810 in for repairs last week. They said they replaced the memory and reflashed, but when I got it back it rebooted within 10 minutes of me booting the thing. Obviously it is still broken, and I have informed nokia. What are the chances that I could get a new unit from them? BTW I had to spend $20 to ship it to them (insurance and signature) so getting back a broken N810 doesn not make me a happy camper. Anyone have experience with the nokia repairs dept?

My nokia came back the first time from the repair center still broken. They said they replaced the memory but it didnt help. The second time it was returned because they said they could not find a problem with it and it was behaving normally, but 15 min after i powered it on ir was rebooting again. Still broken! So now I am sending it back for a THIRD time, this time with a prepaid shipping box from nokia (that I have been waiting on for 2 weeks). I was told the second tiime I sent it to be repaired that since it was still having problems that there should be no problem getting a replacement. Instead they tell me there is nothing wrong with it and send it back to me. Well I decided to take a video of the thing freezing up and rebooting to PROVE to nokia that I am not making this stuff up. Its here in case anyone wants to check it out:

Sorry for the horrible quality but I only had a cell phone to film with. You can see that I press a lot of buttons but nothing appears in the google text box, then I close the browser and lock/unlock the tablet a few times. Then when I open another browser, the tablet freezes for a second and then reboots. I am sending a link to the repair center with my tablet so that hopefully they will see it is still broken. I really really want the next tablet when it comes out but I will boycott nokia if they don't take care of this. I spent $400 on this thing and its broken after 9 months, and they wont even fix the damn thing!!! Anyway thats my rant for today. I'll post again when I get some new info. Nokia, if you're listening, I am not a happy camper!

Did you try with several wireless Access Points?
Can you type in a terminal (osso-xterm?)?

Maybe enabling some more debugging with syslogd might help ? I can not tell you a step by step solution though, sorry.
