I'll try to take a look at this, guys, but I'm just lashing together an old, crumbling hulk here. My bug regarding this broken package has been marked "WONTFIX" and we're not going to see any new stuff from the developers.

If you can't get telepathy-haze, that probably means you don't have the Collabora repository. This repository should get added in the install phase (step 6).

The other, more frightening possibility is that Collabora has shut down their repository or removed telepathy-haze from it... (EDIT: Just checked, it seems to be still there!)

the next thing is that I think that his problem is independent of your instructions. It is a recent problem because in my situation yahoo messenger used to work but for a couple of days i'm having problem of loggin. I can't log any more, and I saw other people complaning about the same problem in a different post.
thx again
yahoo just changed their login code. The pidgin developers released a new version 2.5.7. Qole will probably need to fix the version for Maemo as the pidgin developers don't maintain that port.

I am not the Pidgin for Maemo developer, nor do I have it installed. All I do is try to keep the enhanced version of the built-in client working using bits from Ubuntu or Debian...

I also don't use Yahoo IM...

sorry if this is a very silly bunch of questions. I'm in this thread because I couldn't get pidgin to work with ICQ and found it though search. I'm about to follow the instructions in here to get it to work on the native client but I want to be sure I understand a few of the things that are required.

Repository: I take that to mean a bunch of scripts ready to go for this task in particular, like the step 10 libpurple0 ?

redpill mode: is this a back door into some sort of developer mode? what does it do? search turns up hundreds of things you need to use it for but never found what it actually does.

Get root: Seemed self explanatory except when I went to the instructions for that I'm confronted with rootsh, Suduser, openSSH and R&D mode. do I only have to use rootsh and suduser?

.

Sorry for a second post. but I forgot that I ran across these other instructions and i'm not sure how they relate to the ones in this thread. It was late when I found these and thought I would go this direction instead only because this thread is active with knowedgeable people

Looking at them, they seem similar what about functionality?

JaVelin:

A repository is an online place where many libraries and applications are stored in packages called "debs" because the files end in ".deb". When you install an application from a repository, Application Manager ensures that all the needed packages are also installed.

Red pill mode, or R&D mode, is a special setting that is not supposed to be used by end users (only developers), but, in this case (and some others) it is necessary due to poor design.

Root mode is necessary to do administrative tasks on your tablet; I like the sudser way the best, personally, but you can choose your favourite.

In your second post, you link to the instructions that my instructions are based on. If the package wasn't broken, those instructions would work.

Step 6 requires installing: rtcomm-beta-installer-os2008 but the only thing in my list is "rtcomm-beta-installer" is that the same thing?
