Sadly bookmarklets aren't implemented perfectly. only way i've gotten them to work is to copy and paste the javascript code into the url bar for a one time use.

Yup, that's the current state. URLbar only.

is anyone else experiencing a spike in cpu activity when trying to hold the menu button down to mark a bit of text?

I see a spike while I'm marking the text, but it goes away when I'm done.

I would like to volunteer to create a wiki document for installing & using Tear as well as the bookmark add-in(s). After spending hours reading through this thread & the last to avoid asking Yet Another Dumb Question, I'm feeling somewhat up to speed. I've also noticed that some questions recur & some get answered incorrectly. Seems like the time spent answering these questions could be channeled to a wiki document, which hopefully would contain the Right answers. I would include caveats about low expectations & would not claim that other browsers are steaming piles of ****. I realize that Tear is "would-be beta", but it is actually my primary browser for daily use & I'm probably not the only one, so I think it's an important project. I assume it would be http://wiki.maemo.org/Tear with a link to it on http://wiki.maemo.org/Category:Users.

Is there any reason why this is not a good idea?

I also find that text selecting is "laggy," but my main problem is trying to select more text than is on the page. starting at the beginning of the desired text and then drawing the stylus down to the bottom of the page doesn't induce tear (at least not very often) to continue highlighting text that was originally off-screen. So i find myself zooming out and then selecting all the next I want. But that is a total pain.

Not that I'm complaining though!

So do I.
Sometimes for a (very) long time when selecting a long text.
I thought maybe my tablet's other contents were at fault.

@ Im2
I find wiggling the stylus left-right at the bottom of the page helps, don't know if that is placebo though.
