There is some good info in this thread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=16952
Thanks for the tip. And I'm more of a software guy than a hardware guy.

I was thinking this USB sound card dongle could help overcome hurdles in other projects related to the hobby, for example: https://garage.maemo.org/frs/downloa...MaemoPSK31.png https://garage.maemo.org/frs/shownot...release_id=992 and there is also some talk on this thread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=14877&page=2 Not sure if you're into PSK as well as packet.

Well, from the soundmodem site:
Now uses standard operating system sound drivers (OSS/Free under Linux, /dev/audio under Solaris and DirectSound under Windows), thus runs on all soundcards for which drivers for the desired operating system are available.
Now the tablets have ALSA and ESD, but not OSS. I'm not sure whether ALSA's OSS emulation is built in by default or not. OSS emulation through both ALSA and ESD is possible, but doesn't always work well; I suspect it's either missing, or soundmodem is exercising one of the ways in which it doesn't work...

EDIT: Just re-read #7 and saw where you said it made /dev/dsp* for USB devices. So maybe you need more than 8 kHz, or maybe it is an ALSA/OSS emulation issue, but the emulation is obviously present.

ve1fis, have you played with this recently? Benson brought up some great points (as usual!).

After finishing the "IO" problem -- I'm not sure that the "filters" work well!
I've been playing with the simulation (defined in the pktsimple.c) and have no luck! Any updates?

Cheers,

Dio

I've found soundmodem to be finicky from sound card to sound card / computer to computer so it could not be a soundmodem code issue.

Seems like a few people are working on this project in parallel. Maybe it's time to start a maemo garage project?

ve1fis, I am amateur and I'm very interested in your project I've seen on the internet (frankrouter1 / 2), I wish I could contact by email you to request help with this project.
I apologize to other users for the intrusion but found no other way of contacting ve1fis, thanks or all and greetings from Spain.
