If you can handle a fat guy sawing wood (not too loudly, I hope), sure.

Dude, that is nooo problem... I'm small so we average out. And I'd like to see if you can out-snore my wife.

So, Texrat, I added zerojay to your room on the wiki when I was over adding myself to the list.

I added myself to a new room rather than choosing someone else, because I like surprises and as long as you don't snore (and don't spend 45 minutes in the bathroom every morning), I'm sure I'll be fine... So I'll just see if anyone adds themselves to my room.

(And hey, if nobody does, that's ok too)

No. You need two (or more). Seriously. It's not that hard to do one thing, but they mount up. (Qole, do you want to write up a "what does the council do" on the wiki page? Hopefully, 6 months in you've got a better idea of what this continually evolving role involes!)

( It seems pretty clear to me that two of the best people we had for this, Jaffa and GeneralAntilles, have been "chased off" by the harsh treatment they received here in t.m.o. during the transition from ITt, etc. I'm pretty sure they'd get re-elected if they allowed themselves to stand (because the silent majority is more level-headed than the vocal minority), but I don't see that happening. )
I'm not ready to announce anything like that formally, instead waiting to get behind one or more "ideal" candidates. Either way, with the release of an N900 and a year in the council, having a changing of the guard seems appropriate.

PB, I was very glad to see you jump in, and here's why:

It will be good for the council

The council needs a multitude of voices, and must cover as broad a spectrum of views as reasonably possible in order to be truly representative. We don't need a body of "yes men" or naysayers-- we need a collection of open-minded yet opinionated people to bring various viewpoints to the table and enrich the experience. The council could use an occasional "shaking up" and you are certainly the candidate for it.

It will be good for you

You've done quite a bit of good for the Maemo community but at the same time you lean more toward individual goals and rewards. You have often challenged and even ridiculed consensus views, especially when they are out of alignment with your own. Working on a team at this high level will allow you to perhaps see that giving forth is not necessarily the same as giving in, and that there are indeed times when what benefits a group can also benefit individuals.

I wish you success!
