Never heard of Oziexplorer before, but a quick search turned up a utility that sounds like it would convert the maps to .PNG format tiles (if I understand the description correctly), which MM could then import.

It's the MakeImage program here:
http://members.optusnet.com.au/~john.../oziutils.html

OZF2 format appears to be a monolithic file with a structure of tiles within the file (similar to the new MM format). Here's a brief description of the format:
OZF2

The OZF2 format stores the image in tiles, each tile is 64x64 Bytes, each tile can be manipulated as a single unit. Because of this layout zoom levels below 100% cannot be created "on the fly" in real time. To overcome this the zoom levels are created when the image is saved and all the selected zoom levels are stored in the same file.

Contains a separate image for each zoom level which produces images almost as good as the original for each zoom level

amigoken - I have a strong feeling I know where you're going with this. I tried looking into this myself (even believe I posted a similar question here a while back). If you do figure it out, please do share all the steps, including the first convertion! I want my n800 in my 4x4, too!

Noy only that! In fact I've copy/paste YOUR question, so think the copyrights go to you

I will try the conversion process, but what I need to know and understand first is how to add locally created maps to the Maemo Repositorie. If someone can help me out with that I would be fantastic.

Thanks in advance!

I know I've seen that posted here within the last month, so you should be able to find it with a bit of digging. Basically you set up your own web server (lots of easy install freeware for that), and then tell MM to download the map from there so that it is cached on your tablet.

Hi guys,

Few years ago I've decompiled ozi explorer raster file formats (ozf3, ozfx3) and wrote a portable library to work with ozi explorer maps. It have minimal dependencies and can be ported to Maemo easily. Moreover, I've wrote a simple Ozi Explorer replacement for Linux (navigation part of Ozi Explorer), but it requires wxwidgets library. Today I've bought n810 device, so I suppose to port my app to Maemo (unfortunately, I don't know when I'll have enough free time). If some of you will be able to port this stuff - it can be found at:
code.google.com/p/swampex
code.google.com/p/ozex
Sorry, but ozex lacks of documentation in English yet.

BTW, I suppose to add Garmin maps support in future releases.
