In your further defense, you may not have had the option until after you made five posts. In the interest of spam reduction, some features, such as private messaging, aren't enabled for new users until they hit that magic number. Avatar selection may be included in that list of "under 5" blocks. I really don't know.

Oh, thank you very much, now is clear because I search with attention but I felt to silly to write it in this post . I never heard of this anti-spam measure but I agree that is a nice idea.
